EXAM GUIDE

Every exam is different. So is the preparation.

A short guide for parents and students to the entrance exams and competitions we prepare for — what each one rewards, and how TRIFOCUS prepares students for it.

Exam patterns and dates are set by the conducting bodies and can change. Always confirm the latest details on the official website for each exam.

TYPICAL EXAM CALENDAR

When each exam usually happens.

A rough guide for planning. Dates change every year — always check the official notice.

NEET-UGUsually early May
MHT-CETUsually April–May
IOQMUsually around September
NSEJSUsually around November
ENGINEERING · CLASS XII

JEE Main

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The gateway to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded engineering institutes, and the qualifying step for JEE Advanced.

What it rewards

Strong command of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and the ability to solve accurately under time pressure.

How we prepare

Concept classes → previous-year questions → timed practice → computer-based mock tests → analysis of every mistake.

ENGINEERING · CLASS XII

JEE Advanced

Conducted by the IITs for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology. Open to top JEE Main qualifiers.

What it rewards

Deep conceptual understanding and comfort with unfamiliar, multi-step problems — pattern memorisation does not work here.

How we prepare

Concept depth → multi-concept problems → alternative approaches → question-selection strategy → full simulations.

MEDICAL · CLASS XII

NEET-UG

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The single entrance exam for MBBS, BDS and other medical courses across India.

What it rewards

Thorough NCERT knowledge in Biology and Chemistry, Physics problem solving, and accuracy across a long objective paper.

How we prepare

NCERT-first teaching → recall cycles → topic tests → full-pattern practice papers → accuracy and time analysis.

MAHARASHTRA · CLASS XII

MHT-CET

Conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, for engineering (PCM) and pharmacy/agriculture (PCB) admissions in the state.

What it rewards

Command of the full syllabus, fast recall and high accuracy across many questions.

How we prepare

Board-linked syllabus coverage → speed drills → repeated timed sets → mock tests close to the exam.

FOUNDATION · CLASS VIII–X

NSEJS

The National Standard Examination in Junior Science (IAPT) — the first stage of India's junior science Olympiad programme.

What it rewards

Applying science concepts in unfamiliar situations and reasoning through mixed Physics, Chemistry and Biology problems.

How we prepare

Concept extension beyond school → Olympiad problem sets → mixed practice tests → discussion of approaches.

FOUNDATION · CLASS VIII–X

IOQM

The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics — the first stage of the Mathematical Olympiad programme.

What it rewards

Non-routine mathematical thinking in number theory, algebra, geometry and combinatorics.

How we prepare

Pattern spotting → forming and testing ideas → writing clear reasoning → timed problem sets.

FOUNDATION · MAHARASHTRA

Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition

A Maharashtra science-talent competition with a written test followed by practical and interview stages.

What it rewards

Scientific reasoning, observation and the ability to explain ideas — not only theory.

How we prepare

Concept clarity and application questions → practical thinking → guidance for later stages where relevant.

PLANNING FOR MORE THAN ONE EXAM?

We coordinate Boards and entrance preparation.

Most students prepare for Boards and one or two entrance exams together. We plan them as one programme, not separate workloads.
